Falcons unveil new uniforms

After 17 years, the Atlanta Falcons revealed their new uniforms. The uniforms, which feature the same logo, a new grey facemask, and the letters “ATL” in bold across the front of the jersey were met with mixed reviews among fans. As someone who has watched the Miami Dolphins don some of the most average uniforms in the NFL, while many fans beg for the return of their throwbacks, I feel for fans of the Falcons.

First off, the uniforms have seven different variants.

  • Their “dirty bird” throwbacks that the team used from:
  • A white jersey / black pants combination
  • Black jersey / white pants combination
  • All white
  • All black
  • Gradient red and black jersey / black pants combination
  • White jersey / black pants combination

Luckily, not all of these variants are bad. The dirty bird throwbacks have always been absolute heat. Leading up to the reveal, many fans were hopeful that a return to these were in the works. The white jersey/ black pants isn’t bad, and neither are the all white and black jersey / white pants. The grey facemask featured on all uniforms aside from the dirty bird isn’t all that terrible either. The “ATL” in big letters right on the sternum of the players is bad – but you know what? I can look past that.

The problem is with the gradient jersey and the white jersey / red pants combination.

What were they even thinking with these?
